Principal's Message
Dear JB Parents and Carers
REFLECTION - GOSPEL
In this weekend's Gospel, Jesus begins to prepare that they might come to believe in the Blessed Eucharist, the “BREAD OF HEAVEN”.How strongly do we believe? Do we hunger and thirst after this food? Or, God forbid, is ourt attitude one of“take it or leave it”? “I am the BREAD OF HEAVEN”, says Jesus.
Patience is the Character of God. God is slow to anger and full of mercy. God continues to LOVE US, and forgive us time after time. Patience is a gift from God. When Peter asked Jesus how many times we should forgive our brother, Jesus answered saying: 'I do not say to you, up to seven times, but seventy seven times'. Our message from the Gospel this week is very clear - let us try to REMEMBER to be PATIENT in all circumstances.
PUPIL FREE DAY - MONDAY AUGUST 12
As mentioned in our short Week 1 newsletter, there will be a Staff Development Day on Monday August 12 - Week 4. On this day, students will not be at school, and return to school on TUESDAY AUGUST 13.

SYDNEY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
Congratualations to our Boys Soccer Team who were crowned SCS Sydney Football Champions after an exciting Grand Final win yesterday at Sydney United Football Centre.
Our JB boys defeated Randwick 2-1 in a match that was both exilarating and nerve inducing at the same time! The boys displayed incredible skill and determination in achieving the final result.
Special thanks to Mr Abdal who supported the team for months throughout the competition. The boys are so grateful for the support of all the parents and teachers who were by their side. Thanks also to Mr and Mrs Corvelo for their support of our amazing girls team who also had a very successful competition.

Grandparent’s Day 2024
Saint Anne and Saint Joachim Feast Day 26th July
“Saints Joachim and Anne were part of a long chain of people who had transmitted their love for God, expressed in the warmth and love of family life” - Pope Francis
On Thursday 26th July, we welcomed our Grandparents to join us to celebrate St Anne for our Grandparents Day Liturgy. Saint Anne and Saint Joachim are revered as the parents of Mary, and Jesus’ grandparents, on this feast day we celebrate all grandparents. On Grandparents Day, we honour Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, the loving grandparents of Jesus. Their faith, kindness, and guidance inspire us all.
We came together to celebrate the important role Grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren. Our Grandparents are a light for us on our journey. They encourage us, give us wisdom and provide us with endless love each and every day. Thank you to all grandparents for showing us the importance of family and faith. Thank you to all who came to join us in celebrating together as a school community.
In the spirit of this special day, our school community extends heartfelt gratitude to all grandparents and special people in our lives. Your unwavering support and dedication are a testament to the values of love, compassion, and faith that we hold dear.
God Bless,
Mrs Felysha Knight Acting Religious Education Coordinator

MINI Vinnies news ‘No sew scarves’ Made with love.
The last two weeks our students were able to make a ‘no-sew scarf’ from polar fleece fabric by cutting the desired lengths and fringing the edges with scissors. It was explained that these can be given out on night patrol to keep the necks of those who are sleeping rough this winter, warm. They are very inexpensive and even if discarded after a few wears, they have made a difference on these cold nights.

If there is anyone else who would like to make a bracelet during these sessions for other children or themselves I will advertise the dates in the next newsletter. Or contact me on 0439 492920

Please ensure you re-label any clothing your child is able to remove at school as markings can fade over time.

Student School Travel
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are fortunate that school students in NSW are afforded free public transport to and from school. Opal data gathered by tapping on and off is used to determine the demand for bus services. If Students do not tap on and tap off, services may be cancelled due to the lack of patronage. Additionally, some bus services may become overcrowded as the bus companies do not have accurate data as to how many students are genuinely using a particular bus route.
With this in mind, we ask that parents remind their children that they must have their Opal cards with them every day and that they must tap on and off every time they use a bus. This is one of the conditions of being granted a free student Opal card. If students lose their Opal card they must apply for a new one, no student should be travelling on a bus without a valid Opal card.
Your support is appreciated and helps the bus companies ensure they provide the appropriate level of service to our students.
